What is Epsom Salt?

MgSO4·7H 2O

Epsom salts are crystals of Magnesium Sulphate. It’s a compound made up of magnesium, sulfur, and oxygen - originally discovered in the water springs of Epsom, England. They are also known as Bittersaltz for their bitter taste and are used in sports recovery and beauty,

The high concentration of magnesium in Epsom Salts has powerful healing properties for the skin and muscles: this inexpensive bathroom essential is extremely versatile and efficient. We love Epsom Salts so much at MAVERICKS that we want to share the "magical" properties with our local community in Valais, and beyond!

BE WARNED: once you try them, you may find it difficult to live without them!

Here are a few of our favourite uses:

  • Bath soak to reduce muscular pain, tendinitis or inflammations

  • Bath soak to reduce skin irritation or inflammation

  • Diluted with coconut oil as a topical cream for skin inflammations and sores

  • Hot compress to reduce localised pain

  • Relaxing bath to aid sleep

  • Volumising hair conditioning mask

  • Body scrub to flake away dead skin cells

  • Face scrub to rediscover your youthful glow

  • Foot scrub before a pedicure to soften calluses

When ingested, Epsom Salts can be a very powerful laxative. We do not suggest trying this!

Salts should not be used by people with diabetes. Always consult your doctor if you're unsure.
